Switch Signalling Power Supplies

Course Description

This course uses an innovative virtual reality environment to allow you to safely switch the power supply to the signalling system to an alternative power supply, including mobile generators and UPS’s, and to switch off the power supply to a particular signalling feeder if required. It will also make you aware of any faults that may occur as part of this task but how to resolve them is not taught as part of this competence. You will gain knowledge, understanding and skills of: • Health and safety information and procedures • How you would plan to switch signalling power supplies in different scenarios • How you would conduct a switching operation, including the connecting and switching of mobile generators, in different scenarios • Documentation requirements when conducting a switch operation • Use of good communication skills when conducting a switch operation By the end of the course if the assessments are successfully passed, you will gain Level 2 competence and then must complete a period of Action Learning to be awarded Level 3 competence by your Line Manager.
